Mosaic Shoe Workshop 2 days or 3 evenings $145 "by request" 9:30 - 5p
You will learn how to prepare a 'soft' object for mosaic, use a 'self-grouting' adhesive, embellish a shoe with mosaic tile, broken china, rhinestones, found objects and more! The Elements of Mosaic $95 Abstract design on frame with glass, smalti, millefiori and/or found objects 1 day 9:30 - 3ish all materials included
An introduction to the basics of mosaic including tools, adhesives, surfaces, styles, & color. Materials include smalti, stained glass, Venetian glass, beads, millefiori and more!
You will learn how to cut stained glass & tile and experiment with color and texture. You will be introduced to 'Andamento' (the flow of your pieces) and my "Modern" method, based on texture and using materials in non-traditional ways as well as using elements not normally used in mosaic (beads, jewelry, buttons, hardware, etc.). All materials are included, however, students may bring or purchase other elements if they desire.
No art or mosaic experience required or needed. Ages 14 up

The Concepts of Mosaic $265 3 days 9:30 - 4 Stained glass and other elements. All materials included.
In addition to the basic building blocks of tools, adhesives and surfaces, you will learn how to use Andamento (the flow of the tiles) using a variety of materials and methods (direct, indirect, reverse) and the more Modern method of using texture and other materials and using shards of glass for spectacular results.
Emphasis is on planning, cutting and the proper laying of the tesserae (tile). Choose from a variety of patterns and designs and leave with a beautiful mosaic mirror or wall art. You will be amazed at the results.

MemoryWare, Memory Jugs, Tramp art......all are terms to describe a style of 'mosaic' that originated centuries ago in Africa and, more recently, at the turn of the century when found objects, photos under glass, jewelry, watches,keys, coins, toys, etc. were embedded in cement or putty and placed in cemeteries as grave markers.
Saving the momentos of loved ones....an odd button, earring, cuff-link, or a piece of china, .... is an enchanting way to preserve memories and and honor a loved one, a pet or a special event such as a vacation or wedding. Students are asked to bring such items and we can offer items to 'fill in the gaps. Bring your base (vase, teapot, etc.) or we can provide one (some additional fees may apply).

In this workshop you will learn so much more than glueing shells to a frame. All of the key essentials of making mosaic art - Andamento (flow of the shells), how to use color and shading, composition, appropriate adhesives and surfaces, etc - are also taught in this class.

Pet Paw-traiture - 4 days stained glass mosaic $365
Learn how to create life-like or whimsical dog, cat or other animal portraits with stained glass. Lessons include how to cut glass, how to mimic straight or curly hair, how to recognize and employ tonal values, and, most importantly, how to capture your pet's spirit by learning how to do their eyes and other features.
Emphasis is on how to create realistic eyes and duplicate those intricate features only your dog or cat has.
What a wonderful way to honor your beloved pet or learn to do this for others!
